PPS is illegal! Illegal...understand?

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has declared Penang's Voluntary Patrol Unit (PPS) as an illegal organisation and has frozen and seized all its accounts and assets.

Home Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohamad Khalid Shariff said in a statement that the declaration was made Monday, Nov 3, under Section 5(1) of the Societies Act 1966.

He said that the provision under the Act detailed the Minister's power to declare an organisation as an illegal body.
"The Penang PPS is an organisation that carries out activities that are hazardous to public peace in the country," he said.
Following the declaration, he said no one would be allowed to use the name, symbol or logo of the PPS under Section 7(3) of the same Act.
Mohamad Khalid also said all accounts, assets, and properties of the Penang PPS would also be handed over and wound up by the Malaysian Insolvency Department.
He said that following the declaration, no one could hold any position, carry out the functions of a member, hold any meeting in the building, make any announcement or act on behalf of the PPS.
Those responsible for carrying out any PPS activity would be investigated and could be charged in court for committing an offence under Section 42 and Section 48 of the Societies Act as well as Section 142 of the Penal Code, he said.
Subsequently, he called on everyone to give their cooperation to the Government to check the activities of the PPS, which contradicts existing laws.

The PPS was formed five years ago and is reported to have 296 groups operating in 40 areas. It receives financial resources from the Penang state government amounting to between RM20,000 and RM30,000 per year for each state constituency.

I believe the decision came as a shot in the arm for Lim Guan Eng, the main force behind the setting up of the PPS. He is angry and dejected.

And here comes 'a boy from nowhere' who questions the action by Zahid, telling him and the Federal government to stop interfering in Penang's affairs. He didn't go to school, I suppose because he doesn't know that security throughout the nation comes under the purview of the central government!

Another 'gila publicity' who just wants to be famous...
